About me

Born in Dudley West Midlands, Darren started his golf at Dudley golf club in 1980 at the age of 12.  It was after seeing the great Severiano “Seve” Ballesteros win the British Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 1979 which inspired Darren to join a golf club and vowed that the next time the Open Championship came back to Royal Lytham that he would be playing in it! In 1988, the next time around, Darren had qualified for the tournament and played in his first major championship and again watched Seve lift the Claret Jug.
Darren left school at 16 and started to play full time amateur golf at Dudley and Moseley Golf Club, within 3 months Darren won the Midlands Boy’s Championships and Bell’s National Junior Championship. As time went on, Darren collected numerous titles and honours as an amateur golfer before turning professional, after being a member of the first winning Walker Cup Team on U.S soil in 1989, in which the opposing team was a certain Mr Phil Mickelson.  Darren turned professional with a handicap of +3. Darren has played on and off the European Tour and Challenge Tour since turning pro and has a wealth of experience after playing 26 European Tour Events and playing with players such as: Bernhard Langer, Ernie Els, Justin Rose, Jose Maria Olazabal, David Howell, Peter Baker, Robert Karlsson and Vijay Singh.

Darren has worked with some of the best golf coaches in the world including Danny Sheehey and Peter Cowen. Darren has also spent time at the Butch Harman Golf Academy in Las Vegas and has a vast knowledge of different ways and styles on how to teach and has state of the art practice drills and techniques.

Darren has also worked with putting guru’s Harold Swash and Paul Hurrion, who have both worked with professionals such as Paddy Harrington and Retief Goosen.  Darren has worked with several sports physiologists including Karl Morris, Alan Fine and Andy Morrison
